Steve Turner is founder and Managing Director of Care Right Now (CIC) a Social Enterprise Company delivering healthcare service development, based on education and learning.

Steve has a strong background in healthcare service delivery, clinical governance and information technology. He has held the posts of Head of I.T. in an NHS Trust, and a high performing Senior Healthcare Consultant for a US company. Steve is a registered general and mental health nurse prescriber, having worked successfully on the front line in an assertive outreach team.

Steve has an unusual career history having been a Senior Manager; Healthacre Consultant and Clinician. His career spilts into three phases having worked as a Senior Strategic Services Consultant in Healthcare Inormation Technology; Nurse prescriber in a  mental health Assertive Outreach team and now head of a fast developing healthcare social enterprise, which specialises in leading change through patient led disruptive innovation.

This unusual skill set, spanning different disciplines and organisations, has enabled Steve to lead on complex inter-disciplinary projects which have received national recognition. Steve is comfortable and credible at all levels of organisations, and able to bridge the language gap which can exist between different staff groups, services and professions, and to demonstrate real engagement putting patients at the heart of services. Steve is a Registered General Nurse, Registered Mental Nurse Prescriber, has a BA (Hons) in Social Policy and Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Education. Steve is a Care Quality Commission Specialist Advisor and a NICE Medicines and Prescribing Centre Associate (currently on sabbatical from this role). He is also an active member of the whistleblower campaigning group Patients First UK.

Travelling around the world Jobs ranged from barman, to fruit picker to catering manager. July 1972 - February 1981 For the first years of my working life I travelled extensively. My travels included Europe; the U.S.A.; Brazil and a five-year stay in Australia during which time I obtained resident status. Throughout this period I would take whatever casual work I could. This always led to better things. I was able to turn my hand to anything, including a period working as a Head Waiter in a large restaurant; working in the Channel Islands as a hotel manager; running a large outside catering firm in a remote area of Australia and working in a ski resort. I thoroughly enjoyed this period of travel. Living in other countries and travelling around gave me a broad perspective on life and a great faith in human nature and people’s capacity for change.
