UK India Business Council October 2014 - December 2016
The UK India Business Council is the premier business led organisation promoting bilateral trade and investment between India and the UK. UKIBC's mission is to facilitate trade between the two countries through dialogue, services and support.
My role was to initiate market research, offer advice and support to businesses looking at Indian market entry.
I worked with businesses large and small, in that advisory capacity. I worked as a partnership manager, finding and holding onto good relations with third party organisations that could provide leads or help to clients and fed the consultancy work that was done by the Indian team. I assisted in setting up events with local partners, then helped to deliver these through presentations and one to one meetings with enterprises at the actual events.
Helping other organisations in the public and third sector with engagement plans for India. Worked with some Indian companies to connect them to potential partners here in the UK.
UK Trade and Investment (now Department for International Trade) December 2013 - October 2014
UKTI is the Government's organisation for supporting international trade.
Headed up the team of International Trade Advisers in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The team consisted of 8 trade advisers covering the northern part of the East Midlands. Advising companies on their international trade strategies and supporting them through UKTI network activity.

I advised, supported and informed businesses to help them grow internationally. Through flexible, high quality and beneficial programmes and schemes. One of the biggest assets of UKTI is the extensive network of dedicated trade officers in embassies and consulates around the world.
I was the expert resource for the Indian Market until moving to the role as Area Manager for maternity cover.
Ran and organised trade missions to India. Presented on International trade subjects across the East Midlands.
Business Link Adviser

The role involved reviewing businesses and helping them to diagnose their needs.
I acted as a sounding board or a business councillor, helping people to solve their problems through action planning and providing business tools. Then finding appropriate support if needed.
My speciality was Resource Efficiency as it was termed at the time, it included greentech and cleantech implementation plus better management of resources.
Using the balanced scorecard as my guide I worked with enterprises of all sizes and sectors to build their business. Advised, diagnosed and councilled over 300 businesses and helped a further 200 plus in Lincolnshire and Rutland. I helped with accessing finance and grants, to the tune of about a million pounds a year. The feedback from the businesses was that my work was outstanding.
I presented at events across Lincolnshire and Rutland on a variety of business subjects.
Alehouse Event Bars August 2006 - March 2008
Running Event bars for re-enactors and roleplaying groups. Huge marquee based bars for weekend events. Organising logistics and staff. The plan was to source everything from independent suppliers and locally wherever possible. The weather proved to be a difficulty that led to supplementing work in the winter with Tesco quality and stores management, and working as a Draymen for one of the suppliers to the bar.
We started to investigate export opportunity for smaller brewers.
Closed bar for good after business link offer.

Worked to supplement the Winter months at Alehouse. Also worked with local brewery as a Drayman.
Scored 100% in the Tesco management assesment.
Intelligent IT Services April 2000 - October 2006
Started my own small business acting as an IT department for other SMEs. We advised, built systems, deployed networks and installed IP camera systems. We installed Wifi and remote camera viewing for organisations and businesses security. We hosted web sites and provided support contracts. Resellers for Axis Cameras, Symantec, Pipex Dial and Evesham Micros. Sold the business to invest in the next idea.
Installation of Leisure machines and activities in Europe and The Middle East. Made a JV, selling and installing a Cyber Cafe in Poland.
Technical Manager/ Chief Technical Officer

Managed the technical support all across Europe, Scandinavia, the Middle East, India and North Africa, for a laser game and theme park ride manufacturer.
Involved beta testing, repair, evaluation, technical sales, training on site staff and master licencees, technical authoring, running a small team of technicians.
First taste of working with the Indian market, installed the first laser game in India, training and supporting the master licencee to operate.
Introduced systems and processes to improve the response and the quality of the support.
Wrote two articles for Interpark, the industry magazine for leisure and theme park manufacturers about "managing your site".
